Decided it was time to get a watch, so I got one to match my table. I know it’s cheesy, but I love it.

The rest of the parts came in, so we had to hook it up. There’s a bit of drop in the output level of the cartridge, but the sound definitely seems much more crisp. Time to start spinning yesterdays massive Goodwill haul.

I’m quickly turning into an audiophile snob. The 1200 came with a DJ cart on it, so that shish had to go. I bought a Shure M97xE as well as some original Panasonic/Technics headshell parts which haven’t been delivered yet. Can’t wait to assemble it all. I also picked up this neat record cleaning brush. So far, it seems to working fantastically.

It’s been a while, so here’s the news. I gotta new turntable (so the Stanton is now for sale.) I got a Technics SL-1200Mk5 off a dude on Craigslist. Now I just need to stumble across a used tube amp/receiver and speakers.

So I decided to spruce up my turntable with a little bit o’ 80’s skateboarding. So I had a custom slipmat made. I adapted the pattern from a mid-80’s Vision skateboards “Gator” Rogowski model. I think it turned out pretty awesome.

I’ve been going through a bit of classical phase lately, spurned by a week long adventure searching through all the local thrift stores. One of these visits resulted in me picking up a classical compilation album, mainly because it had Pachebel’s Canon. But the very next piece was a somber little ditty by a composer I’d never heard of previously, Tomaso Albinoni. I’ve been obsessed with him for the last week or so. So, like the title says, do yourself a favor…
